Julia Testas
ROLLER COASTER:
A WORKSHOP ABOUT MAKING PROCESS
May 2021 - @interculturalroots
This event will present to you the Dissolving Technique: a somatic dance and work methodology developed by Julia Testas during her MFA studies at Trinity Laban. Dissolving is a sum of practices that Julia has structured in order to disintegrate the belief that the mind is split from the body. It envisions the integration of the self-using breath combined with a series of energetic exercises as a tool for activating deep relaxation and creativity. You will be invited to experience this praxis and dive into the creative process of Julia Testas in the making of her artistic work.
After the Dissolving Workshop, Julia will be showing her most recent piece of work, the "Roller Coaster" short film, devised by herself and produced by Catharina Conte. The performance presents a poetic collage of images that portrays the velocity of life and the inner sensations it evokes.
On the final part of this workshop, the participants will be encouraged to devise their own material using the Dissolving Technique as a path to the creation and presentation of a scratch piece to one other. They will be provoked by the film's main theme and inspired to take a journey inside of one’s body-mind where life often goes faster than we can handle.
